THE POET’S DREAM

(translated by VO DINH MAI)

One day

I’ll return

to my native land

I’ll stroke my white beard

and smile like a tot

While a crowd

of children

gather around, curious,

asking one another :

Who’s that?

Where’s he from ?

(*) alluding to Ha Tri Chuong, the Chinese Tang

                         (6th century) poet . (659-744

                 TEARS

                                  The river is swift

and the boat is frail

Yet,

you made it,

You made it over .

And here,

You are,

Safe and Sound

and you’re crying

Your heart

out .
